I could not get the drawing icon to function. I experienced difficulty in creating this diagram. I could not get the pointers as illustrated in the text. This diagram is nothing compared to the text; however, I hope this is understandable. Once I learn how to use the proper tools for diagramming, the outline will be beneficial by adding or deleting text as needed. After trying to import the diagram I created, the blog would not accept.

  1. Jerri,
I think you have a great program! It's unfortunate how needed a program like this is but i'm glad you're focusing on it. I like that you've incorporated so much class discussion because it's important for teens to know that they are heard and accepted. I do have a few quetions...you specified that this was a program for teens but is it for all grades in high school or one particular grade? Also, I saw that you are including it with math class. Is there a reason for that versus any other class?

  2. I really like this program. Have you thought of the guest speaker being a teenager that got a DWI or possibly hurt someone in a car accident? I think the role playing is excellent to help with refusal skills and peer pressure. Also, do you think a pre-test and post-test would be appropriate? Thanks for sharing!

  3. Sounds like an interesting program, Jerri. I think everyone in the class had difficulty importing their diagrams, but I was still able to follow your information. As a teacher, I understand the importance of incorporating various subjects into your lessons. I really liked this aspect of your program. I think it would increase your chances of getting approval for your program. You've already received some great suggestions, but I wanted to add one more. I don't know if schools still allow this type of role playing, but when I was in high school we had a mock car accident involving a "drunk" student in front of the school. The student "died" and there was a mock memorial slideshow presentation of the student, followed by information about drunk driving. I don't know if you have enough time in your program, but it's just a thought. As I previously stated, I think you have a good program.
